At least 11 civilians were killed and 12 others were wounded in an explosion in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan, local officials said.
The officials further added that the incident took place on Friday after the vehicle of civilians struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants on a roadside, Khaama Press reported on Saturday.
Provincial governor’s spokesman Jawid Didar confirmed the incident and said at least 11 civilians were killed and 12 others including a bride were wounded.
He said several women and children were among those wounded and the incident took place as the civilians were on their way to a wedding ceremony.
No group including the Taliban insurgents has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
Local officials blame the Taliban group for such incidents as the Taliban fighters frequently use IED as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces and government officials.
