At least 4 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and 18 anti-government armed militants were killed in fresh wave of violence across the country.
Defense Ministry Spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi confirmed that 4 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred in the past 24 hours, Khaama Press reported.
Gen. Azimi did not disclose further information regarding the exact locations where the Afghan army soldiers were martyred.
He said at least 18 militants were also killed, 20 militants were injured and 22 others were detained during the operations.
According to Azimi, at least 17 clearing operations are currently being conducted in Badakhshan, Helmand, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Herat, Kunduz, Balkh, Paktia, Wardak, Nangarhar and Laghman provinces.
Afghan army soldiers also confiscated and neutralized 41 rounds of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the operations, Azimi said.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.
