At least 22 Taliban militants were killed Tuesday when the Afghani air forces responded to two attacks by the terrorist group on checkpoints in the eastern Kunar province.
According to Russia Today television, a statement by the Defense Ministry said the air planes killed two Taliban's field commanders in the clashes.
About 26 others were injured and arrested by the security forces in the two attacks which involved some 400 Taliban militants, the statement said.
Afghanistan has been the scene of violence since 2001 when the US and its allies invaded the country as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror.
