A car bomb in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday killed one civilian and injured seven others, among them four police officers, dpa reported. "An explosives-laden car ignored police's stop order for search and was detonated next to the checkpoint at 4:30 pm (1200 GMT) in Khost city," said Baryalay Rawan, a police official for the Khost province. "One civilian was killed, three other civilians and four police officers were wounded. "The attack took place on the eve of the International Nawroz Festival in Kabul, which will see the participation of leaders and high-level officials from 11 countries. Tight security measures have been adopted in Afghanistan's main cities for the Nawroz festival. No group immediately claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attack.
