12 people have been taken to Nangarhar Regional Hospital in wounded condition after a comparatively powerful earthquake jolted Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported on Saturday.
Spokesperson for the governor of Nangarhar province said most of those wounded are students of Nangarhar University who sustained injuries during a stampede.
Ataullah Khogyani added that the stampede took place when students of the university started running out of their living quarters after feeling the quake during midnight.
The 6.2 magnitude quake at around 11:45 PM last night was also felt in other cities of Afghanistan including capital Kabul but a possible report of damage from those areas has not been released yet.
Reports suggest that the earthquake was also felt in Pakistan, India and Tajikistan.
