A NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier was killed in an attack by the Taliban rebels in eastern Afghanistan, said alliance on Thursday.
A brief statement by ISAF said "An International Security Assistance Force service member died as a result of an enemy forces attack in eastern Afghanistan today." The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationality of the deceased soldier.
At least 56 NATO/ISAF soldiers including nine US troops, six British troops and 11 soldiers from the other NATO member countries have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
The foreign forces are preparing to leave the country till the end of the year but a follow-up support mission of about 10,000 troops is offered by US if the next president signs security a deal.
