Thirty one militiamen belonging to the Houthis and elements loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh were killed in attacks in western and southern Yemeni city of Ta'iz.
In a statement, the media center of the military council of Ta'iz said the army and resistance forces resumed for the second day their progress towards the city from the western entrance.
Clashes also continued in areas to the east of the city where two civilians were killed and seven wounded by militia shells, the statement read.
Meanwhile, five army and resistance soldiers were killed and 22 others injured in the clashes that erupted on Thursday, it added.
