At least 50 Houthi militants and nine Yemeni soldiers were killed in Hajjah's Harad district during a military operation launched by the the army in the southwestern governorate.
Backed by Arab coalition, the Yemeni army bombarded militant hideouts as clashes renewed in the wee hours of Friday, the command of the fifth military region in Yemen said.
Meanwhile, coalition warplanes carried out air strikes against Houthis southeastern Harad, destroying their reinforcements there, a military source said.
A journalist was killed while covering the clashes, two others were injured as well, the military command announced on its Facebook page.
On Thursday morning, Yemeni forces affiliated with the fifth military region launched a large-scale military operation in Hajjah governorate, 123 kilometers away from the Yemeni capital.
