According to Sky News Arabia, the Houthi figure, Abdel Salam el Sharif, was shot dead during clashes that erupted in Sirwah district of Ma'rib Province.
Meantime, the Saudi-led coalition's warplanes continued hitting sites under control of the Houthis and forces loyal to ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh in Taiz.
Both sides exchanged shelling attacks in el Misrakh district in the same province.
