Head of the Military Council in Taez Brigadier Sadiq Sarhan welcomed any measures that can guarantee ceasing fire and halting the siege imposed by the Houthi militias on the city.
In statements quoted by the council's media center, Sarhan said the Yemeni armed forces and the opposition supporting it welcome any efforts exerted to cease fire, stop besieging the city and open its main gate.
The armed forces and the opposition will continue to defend the city against the Houthi militias, he underlined.
Meanwhile, the head of the local committee that supervises the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the city Abdel Karim Shiban deplored the silence of the international community towards shelling Taez by the Houthi militias.
He urged the militias of the Houthis and former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh to implement the agreement stipulating cease fire and opening the gates of the city.
