Backed by intensive air strikes from the Saudi-led coalition, Yemeni forces managed to free Alab border checkpoint with Saudi Arabia and seized 13 new positions in Baqem district in Saada province, according to the media center of the Yemeni Armed Forces on Monday.
The Yemeni forces and popular resistance managed to fully liberate Alab border crossing in Saada, Houthis' heavily fortified heartland in northern Yemen, Saada Governor Hadi Tarshan said on his Facebook page.
They also seized 13 new positions in Saada after two-day fighting with Houthis and forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Scores of Houthis were killed and three others were captured during the fighting.
A number of Houthi-held arms caches and military outposts were also destroyed.
Yemeni forces entered the Houthi stronghold of Saada for the first time since the beginning of the war in Mid October.
