A Yemeni official today lauded the call of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to convene an emergency Islamic Solidarity summit in Makkah by the end of current fasting month of Ramadan. Noora Al-Hamami, Head of the International Organizations and Conferences Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the call comes amid critical circumstances witnessed by the Islamic nation. She drew the attention to the importance attached to this summit that is scheduled to discuss the Islamic nation\'s most crucial issues, including the tragedy of the Syrian people, hoping to stop the bloodshed and preserve the people\'s interests. She suggested that the Kingdom\'s move comes in line with its expected role and leverage in the region, expressing the appreciation of her country of this call and this role. She said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a pivotal and basic country in the Islamic world due to its religious and political status, noting that it was always forerunner to call for what unites Muslims and protects their interests.
