Atletico Madrid' s French international striker, Antoine Griezmann believes his side will have to play the 'perfect' game if they want to take their revenge for their heartbreaking defeat to neighbors Real Madrid in the 2014 Champions League final and turn the tables this time around.
The year of 2014 saw a Sergio Ramos header deep in injury time take that years Champions League final into extra time in which Real Madrid took advantage of Atletico' s tired legs to inflict a 4-1 defeat and leave the Atletico players to vow that they would be back to try and lift the title in the future.
Atletico will get that chance on May 28th in Milan and appearing at an awards ceremony. Griezmann said the final would be "wonderful for the players, the club and the fans."
"We are very excited and looking forward to it, but we will have to play a perfect game. I am confident in my companions and we are ready for the final," he commented.
Griezmann goes into the final at the end of a season which saw Atletico finish in third place in the BBVA Primera Liga, behind Barcelona and Real Madrid and where he netted 22 league goals, the same as in his first campaign with the club.
"I am very content with my form and my performances this season," he commented. "I feel I am contributing more to the team each year and I hope that I can carry on like this."
"We also had a great year as a team and everyone game everything they had in every match. We have to be very pleased," commented Griezmann, who considered he and his companions had "given everything until the end of the season. We are happy to have finished in the top-3 and I hope we can improve every year," he concluded.
