Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng is convinced that his side will be able to recapture past glories and is confident that his team-mates will soon "explode into form". The Germans have one foot in the Champions League group stages after beating FC Zurich 2-0 in the first leg of their play-off on Wednesday night but their start to the new Bundesliga season has been mixed with three points from two games thus far. Speaking to Goal.com, the 22-year-old former Manchester City man said that he expects his side to move up a couple of gears as the season progresses. "We are still at the beginning of the season and so it is clear that everything is not working as smoothly as it should be, but there is always room for improvement," Boateng told Goal.com. "However, you will soon see an explosion [into form] from us. "I do not think you can play magical football in every game, but we know we can play better if we take advantage of the opportunities that come. "It is clear that the fans expect more from us, but we want to pursue our goals. "We have now played two games already and we have a good self-confidence for Saturday [against] Hamburg." Bayern appeared to lack creativity in the Champions League clash against Zurich at the Allianz Arena and while all eyes were on Toni Kroos to provide the spark, Boateng moved to suggest that there is more to the club's attacking play than just the promising midfielder. "We had lots of chances against them [Zurich], but it's not all about Kroos. We are creative as a team," he concluded.
