Arab League chief Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi conferred here on Sunday with Syrian ambassador to Egypt Youssef al-Ahmed ,who is also his country’s representative to the Arab League. Following the meeting, Youssef al-Ahmed declined to reply queries posed by reporters concerning his country’s decision cancelling the visit Al Arabi intends to pay to Syria to convey the Arab initiative the Arab Foreign ministers had ageed on during their meeting held here on August 26. Asked whether damascus rejects al arabi’s visit to syria, the syrian ambassador said,” The arab league secretary general is welcomed in Syria any time ” and declined to reveal whether or not Syria accepts Al Arabi’s visit to Damascus to convey the Arab initiative to resolve the crisis in Syria. The Arab League has announced a peace initiative to solve the crisis in Syria as more people were killed by government forces and activists called for prayers for the “martyrs”. Al Arabi was supposed to head to Damascus bearing “an initiative to solve the crisis” in Syria, a statement said after a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo earlier on August 26.
