Saudi Arabia’s Islamic police arrested two couples working at a key hotel in the Gulf Kingdom for dining together without being related to each other, a newspaper reported on Wednesday. Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Crime seized a Pakistani hotel worker dining with his Saudi colleague at a restaurant at their hotel while two other Saudi couples were caught having dinner at another restaurant. The Saudi woman told the Commission members that having dinner with her Pakistani work mate is normal, adding that she “does not feel embarrassed because she is not a backward person,” the Arabic language daily Sabq reported from the western town of Makkah. “When the seized the other Saudi couple, the man admitted that he has an affair with the woman as they both work at the same place…he said they do not see anything wrong with this.”
