The director of the Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University and member of the Supreme Scholars' Council, Dr. Sulaiman bin Abdullah Aba al-Khail, confirmed that the royal decree granting driving license for women in the kingdom was “wise, correct, conciliatory and positive.”
He said that it is based on legitimate reasoning, adding: “This royal decree was formed after careful consideration of various facts, studying documents, figures and social and economic matters.”
Khail stated that the royal decree was to prevent various religious, social, behavioral and moral misdeeds. He also explained that this will prevent the dangerous of having a foreign outsider having to escort women in and out of their homes without supervision or accountability.
