The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, ADFD, a leading national entity for development aid, on Wednesday announced a financial endowment to Dar Zayed for Family Care.
The monetary aid will empower the UAE society through community development efforts.
A cheque-handing-over ceremony was held at the ADFD’s headquarters and attended by Khalifa Al Qubaisi, Deputy Director-General of ADFD, and Nabil Al Dhaheri, Director-General of Dar Zayed for Family Care.
The ADFD’s endowment will be allocated to equip young men and women enrolled at various universities and colleges with laptops.
Commenting on the assistance, Al Qubaisi said, "This contribution marks another strategic milestone in the ADFD’s community development efforts and reflects our ongoing commitment in funding programmes for the well-being of our local community. We are pleased and proud to support Dar Zayed for Family Care in this crucial endeavour that will further bolster the UAE’s education sector through providing resources to enable students to complete their university careers."
"In line with the UAE leadership’s vision to empower the youth of our country with tools that foster learning and help shape a knowledge economy, this new collaboration with Dar Zayed for Family Care also reinforces the ADFD’s keenness to support the country’s ‘Year of Giving’ initiative," he added.
Nabil Al Dhaheri praised the support provided by the Fund and highlighted the significant impact of the endowment for the students and families affiliated with the charity. He also noted that the foundation plays an active role in collaborating with institutions in the UAE to provide support for individuals who lack family care and enable their social integration.
The ADFD recently announced the ‘My Community’ programme to strengthen the principles and values of volunteerism across the Fund’s departments and enhance partnerships among local public and private sector companies through tasking its employees with completing 25 hours of volunteering annually.
The ADFD, over the last 10 years, has pursued an active CSR agenda and as a result, was ranked among the top five best UAE government organisations in the 2015 edition of the Arab Social Responsibility Awards.
