An emotional video has shown an interview with a Houthi child soldier in Yemen who was found and interviewed by legitimate Yemeni forces.
The interview was shared on the Twitter account of Nadwa Dawsari, a specialist on tribes and internal dynamics of conflict in Yemen and nonresident senior fellow at Project on Middle East Democracy.
During the interview the boy can be seen breaking down in tears and lost for words.
When asked what he would say to several boys his age “being tricked and recruited into Houthi fighting lines,” the boy continued to shed tears, turning his face away from the camera and barely nodding.
Earlier this year, Amnesty International revealed how the Houthi armed group is actively recruiting boys as young as 15 to fight as child soldiers on the front lines of the conflict.
