The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, today signed an agreement to fund the digging of two artesian wells within the main water well in Al Odaiba, located in Ghayl Ba Wazir District in Hadramaut Governorate, Yemen, as part of an initiative to provide suitable water for drinking, agriculture and raising animals.
Ahmed Al Neyadi, Head of the ERC Team in Hadramaut, stressed that digging the two artesian wells aims to improve local water services in areas of Ghayl Ba Wazir, as part of a series of infrastructure projects supported by the UAE in Hadramaut and other liberated Yemeni governorates. He added that the well project is one of the ERC’s major strategic projects, and it had previously dug many other wells in various liberated governorates.
Eng. Waheeb Ghanim, General Manager of the Water and Sanitation Local Corporation in Hadramaut, praised the efforts of the ERC to serve the Yemeni community while stressing the importance of its project to dig the two wells in providing safe drinking water for local residents.
He added the project is also important due to the wide range of sectors that will potentially benefit, in light of the critical water situation in Ghayl Ba Wazir District. He also expressed his appreciation to the UAE’s government and people.
