The Federal Electricity and Water Authority, FEWA, has announced the launch of the first electric car charger at its customer service centre in Ajman, in co-operation with Green Parking.
Adnan Naseeb Salem, Acting Director-General of FEWA, stated that the Authority had previously launched a key environmental initiative to establish a large number of charging stations for electric cars, as part of its efforts to implement programmes that will contribute to the UAE’s vision of achieving sustainable growth and solving its environmental and developmental challenges, as well as reducing its carbon footprint and the negative environmental effects of the unnecessary and inappropriate use of energy, by employing various forms of environmentally-friendly technologies.
The first stage of FEWA’s initiative will include establishing 50 charging stations in the north of the country, in co-operation with its partners in the government and private sector, he added.
"The charging stations will be equipped with fast chargers, which can be used while parking in certain malls, hospitals and hotels, and the buildings of various government authorities and some private institutions," he further added.
