The Federal National Council’s parliamentary division participated in a meeting of the Scout Union of Arab Parliamentarians, held in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Hamad Ahmed Al Rahoomi, a member of the FNC who represented its parliamentary department in the meeting, said the statute of the Scout Union was approved after discussing the proposed amendments.
Those at the meeting also agreed to promote co-operation between the Scout Union of Arab Parliamentarians and experts in this field. A plan to activate such co-operation in various fields was formulated within the framework of the 28th Scout Conference held in Oman and the 8th General Assembly of the International Scout Union, held in Stockholm.
He also added that the parliamentary department submitted several draft laws, particularly those related to issues concerning children and youth.
Al Rahoomi said they discussed the need to develop scout work in the Arab region and stressed the importance of promoting co-operation between international and regional organizations active in this field.
He noted that this meeting was crucial to acquaint participants with the latest developments in the scout field and facilitate exchanges of experiences. He also highlighted the importance of empowering youth and benefitting from such gatherings at international and regional levels.
"Scout work encourages team spirit and helps promote a culture of volunteer work in communities, both at local and international levels. We need to proactively participate in these regional and international organisations," he added.
