An official source has announced that the former Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq has left the UAE for Cairo.
In a statement, the source added that the family of the former Egyptian Prime Minister is still in the UAE under the generous care of the country.
Prior to that, during the week, the United Arab Emirates had denied reports that Shafiq was barred from travelling outside the country, contrary to previous comment in a video attributed to him by Al Jazeera earlier on that day.
Shafiq, an ex-air force commander and presidential candidate, said earlier he had planned to return to Cairo in the coming days from his current location in the UAE, as he intends to run in the presidential election early next year.
