Islamic Republic of Iran sent its third consignment of humanitarian aid for the people of Libya early Monday. The Iranian goods comprising 40 tons of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment were dispatched for the Libyan civilians on a plane from Karaj Payam Airport on Monday motning. Secretary General of Islamic Republic of Iran’s Red Crescent Society Zaher Rostami said that it is for the first time that Iran’s aid is directly sent to Libya. He noted that the cargo will be discharged in Libya’s Benghazi Airport. The official recalled that Iran had previously sent twice its aid cargoes of foodstuff for Libyan people via Tunisia.
