The head of the central anti narcotic division Colonel Adel Mashmoushi announced here, Monday, an attack on security forces during operations to destroy crops used in production of illegal drugs in the Beqaa region. The official told KUNA, while overseeing the operations, that a joint force from the internal security and from the army started destroying 20,000 dunams of land where Hashish is grown. He said the campaign would last a whole month. During today\'s operation, a security patrol came under fire and was targeted by six missiles, which luckily failed to inflict human loss. The security personnel engaged in an exchange of fire with the attackers, who are wanted for crimes including drug use and trafficking. The colonel stressed the need for solidarity of all society to combat the illegal drugs trade, which is a threat to the state\'s youth and it\'s very future. The Lebanese legislator deals harshly with offenses involving drugs and states penalties that go as far as harsh labor, or even execution, in the event of the offenders attacking security personnel assigned to combat drug use and the drugs trade.
