Major General Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouki, General Commander of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior, has stressed the importance for regional departments of civil defence to perform their awareness role and organise awareness campaigns, which target schools and promote the principles of safety and prevention, to raise a future generation who are aware of the risks around them.
He urged the departments to perform field visits on the first day of the new school year, to raise the awareness of students about preventive measures and procedures in cases of emergency to protect their safety, in co-ordination with relevant officials from the educational sector.
He also highlighted the desire of the General Command of Civil Defence to promote safety and prevention standards in all local facilities, including in educational buildings and schools, in co-ordination with the relevant authorities, to ensure their compliance and readiness during the new school year.
Major General Al Marzouki further stressed that the General Command is keen to promote the culture of safety and prevention among all segments of the community, for all citizens and residents to benefit from all available means of delivering preventive and instructional safety messages, and to ensure the best application of safety and prevention standards in all locations, to protect the safety of the general public.
He added that these programmes, including the Khalifa Empowerment Programme for Students, Aqdar, aims to promote positive messages while encouraging citizens to follow safety and prevention rules while at home, in school and on roads, as well as developing their ability to act appropriately during cases of emergencies.
