The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a United Nations peacekeeping base in Timbuktu in northern Mali late on Monday in which seven people, including five Malian security guards, were killed.
In a statement, Yousef Al-Othaimeen, OIC Secretary-General, expressed his strong denouncement of the terrorist act, saying that he considered it a new threat that impedes the implementation of the Algiers Agreement for peace and reconciliation.
He voiced his concerns about the repeated terrorist acts in Timbuktu and dangers posed by the terrorist groups to stability, safety and security of Saharan countries.
