Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said that Jordan is a safe and stable country, despite its location in a volatile region that suffers wars and conflicts.
He added that the evils and wars in the Middle East have negatively affected the image of the Arab and Muslim world.
The premier made his remarks during a ceremony held to honour participants in the Women in Parliaments Global Forum, which was hosted by Jordan. Ensour told the attendees that Arab and Muslim nations are not different from others, adding "our civilization is peaceful, but it was defamed by terrorist organizations that do not represent Islam".
Jordan, which is a small country, has received waves of refugees from Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Syria over the past decades the premier said. These waves, he affirmed, had had their repercussions on the Kingdom's infrastructure, services and main sectors.
Ensour reiterated the importance of finding a solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution and the UN resolutions. He added that solving the Palestinian issue would solve many problems in the Middle East.
Further, the prime minister underlined the key role played by parliaments to convince the Palestinians and Israelis to sit on the negotiations table again and work together to achieve peace and stability in the region.
