Manama - Arabstoday

Qatar Charity has started the implementation of a QR400,000 ($110,000) relief for refugees who fled to Lebanon to escape the political turmoil in Syria. The foundation, in association with Lebanese charity organisations, has provided aids to thousands of Syrian families and ageing people displaced in the Syria-Lebanon border villages of Wadi Khalid and Akkar, Mohammed Adrdour, Director of Relief and Emergency Department of Qatar Charity, told Qatari dailyThe Peninsula. The Lebanese charity organisations such as Guidance and Reform, Confidence for Social Action and Zakat and Khayrat House have helped distribute basic foodstuff, fresh meals, clothes and baby milk to Syrian refugees. Ardour said more humanitarian efforts may be required to ease the difficult situation as more influx of refugees is expected. Qatar Charity has allocated QR3.5m ($961,000) as relief funds for Libyans and more than QR700,000 ($192,000) for Yemenis hit by the political turmoil. From / Gulf News
