Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi received a telephone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin on the latest regional developments and efforts to fight terrorism.
The two discussed means to support a ceasefire agreement in Syria as Sisi praised political settlement steps and spoke in favor of an early launch of the political process of the Syrian settlement, under the auspices of the United Nations, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
Egypt and Russia agreed to continue close cooperation within the framework of the International Syria Support Group, the spokesman said.
They stressed the need to continue the fight against international terrorism not only in Syria, but also in Libya and Yemen.
The two leaders pledged to continue developing energy and military-technical cooperation.
They also discussed the resumption of Russian flights to Egypt and tourist exchange.
