Tunisia''s Chamber of Indictments on Thursday decided to release former Transport Minister Abderrahim Zouari arrested mainly in cases involving financial corruption in the Transport Ministry, under his leadership, and the illegal funding of the disbanded Constitutional Democratic Rally, according to Tunisian news agency. Zouari had been arrested, on April 13, 2011 and placed in custody for the charge of use by a civil servant of his position to procure for himself or to a third party an unjustified advantage. He is one of the longest serving ministers under the former regime and had headed the departments of Justice, Youth and Children, Foreign Affairs, Youth and Sports, Tourism and Handicrafts and finally Transport. Besides, he had held the position of Secretary-General of the ruling party for two terms between 1988 and 1991, and 1999 and 2000.
