The Politburo of the Free Patriotic Union (UPL) decided to stop its political advertising campaign, while reserving the right to appeal before court the decision issued by the Higher Independent Authority for Elections (IHAE) banning the pre-election campaign in the period between September 12 and 30, 2011. This decision comes after the meeting held by UPL Chairman Slim Riahi and IHAE Secretary-General Boubaker Bethabet as part of consultations on the issue of pre-election advertising of candidate parties, said a statement released on Wednesday. The politburo stresses, in his regard, the keenness to see the Constituent Assembly election be held in a climate of political concord and contributes to strengthening the democratic transition process.
