Sereen Abdulnour was overwhelmed by the reviews on her most recent series "24 Karats". She assured that showing the series on an encrypted channel did not do any harm to the work and its events have no resemblance to the late Nour El-Shereif's work "The Other Man"(Al-Ragol Alakher)
In an interview with Egypt Today , Abdulnour asserted that the reviews on the work was more than good and reflect the Egyptian audience's appeal for" 24 Karats" . Though the work is a Lebanese Syrian production, it won the Egyptian s' admiration which reflected consequently on the social media reviews. She expects more positive feedbacks with the revelation of the plot in the coming episodes.
She cleared that the series achieved a considerable rating when showed on the encrypted OSN last Ramadan. OSN has its fans and the work scored good watching rating percentage .It top ranked the mostly watched works on the same channel. It also scored top ratings in Lebanon when showed on MTV at the same time.
"I found Mira's character is totally different from my previous roles which encouraged me to accept the work.
"Away from the differences, I had to perform the role smoothly which is not easy, as it requires dispensing with my feminine touches to act spontaneously in every act or reaction to arouse comic situations."She added
She denied being angry from removing some important scenes for the favor of the star Maggy bin Ghosen." it is totally untrue"." I preformed all the scenes without any removal. No scenes were cut for the sake of any actor or actress". No offence attended for me as I believe that all the actors and actresses taking a part in this work really starred their roles." She added." Apart from that hassle I wished my role was a bit larger" She proceeded.
When asked about Reem Hana's words that the producers asked her to remove some episodes before coming to check on them, "I do not know anything about that incident. Some issues might have come up between Reem and the producing body". "Yet when I sat with Reem , a close friend, she literally told me " You are right. Your role should have been larger"
She believes that ambition always leads people to improve their performance. Even If an actor perfectly played his role, he would aspire for a much better performance. Still the percentage of viewing and the audience's reviews are important scales for judging the actor's performance. She feels content with the positive feedbacks she received on" 24 Karats".
"I will not participate in any televised drama unless I see the whole script before me. The resemblance between" 24 karats" and" The Other Man" is possible but the incidents are different"." Nowadays all series and movies have common ideas as they are presented a lot since the emergence of the cinema and television. Yet every work still has its different nature."She added.
She also informed us that honoring the great singer Sabah Al-shahroora "the Black Bird" was Reem Hana's idea.
When she thought of that, I encouraged her to pursue her unique idea. As this episode was on the show at the same year Sabah died. It was a reminder for the viewers of the greatness of such a singer, thought she presumed it was not that easy to present Sabah's funeral in the dramatic plot and the episode luckily was spontaneous. Not only did Hana presented the funeral but also pursued her great idea by introducing the character of the store lady. She was crazy about Sabah to the extent that she always quoted her lyrics while talking. Abdullnour thinks it is a good token of gratitude to a great singer like Sabah.
She mentioned that this episode was criticized after the actor Talal Al-Gardy presented" Barhoom , talk to me" (Barhoom Hakeeny) song claiming that it is one of Sabah's songs which proved to be untrue. Ana has nothing to do with that incident as she added one of Sabah's songs in the script and Talal changed it after that. She added that she had surveyed the script herself and made sure of that. Yet she thinks that Talal may have thought it was one of Sabah's songs
as singers used to present each other's songs." when I was young, I used to listen to Gorge Wassouf's beautiful songs which I thought they were his . They turned out to be Warda's and Om Kalthoum's songs" She proceeded. She thinks that Talal did that by mistake .He might have listened to Sabah singing this song and it was spread all over. He mistakenly thought it is hers."Any way I should not discuss any of my fellow's problem and we should refer the whole thing to the author or Talal himself". She added.
She believes in the old proverb saying "Your enemy is your career mate". But she believes that she has no enemies and does not have any hard feelings to anyone refusing to comment on Nicole Saba's ill talk. She abstained and expressed that she does not enjoy watching her works.
As for the rumor circulated about her quitting acting, She laughed and said that some tampered with her speech about one year" taking breath" break as she is not satisfied with the ongoing televised drama.
"I refuse manipulate the dramatic plot .When I start any televised drama, I surprisingly find out while shooting that the script is dramatically changed from the series outlines. I find myself helpless" .I have been acting for 17years now, and my works score high watching rating percentage. I would not sacrifice such a status for just being on the screen". She added. For that reason she decided not to accept any offer unless viewing the final draft script.
