Executive Director of Pyramedia and famous Indian actor, Gulshan Grover visited Abu Dhabi upon the invitation of the media professional Nashwa al Ruwaini. During his visit, Gulshan met several heads of production, documentary and cinema departments in the company. This is Gulshan Grover’s second visit to Abu Dhabi after participating in the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in 2009. His visit follows cooperation discussions between the Indian cinema, “Bollywood” and filmmakers in Gulf and Middle East. Gulshan added that he intends to involve Arabs in the production of Indian and international cinema and will be hiring actors from the Gulf as well as using UAE production companies. He aims to take this industry on a global level pointing out that Abu Dhabi is rapidly moving forward in this field. Nashwa expressed her happiness over the cooperation between Indian and Arab cinema. She said that Gulshan is one of the most famous villain actors in India participating in more than 400 films. He has also participated in French and American movies of which the most prominent “The Driver” with Salma Hayek and Will Smith. Gulshan Grover is also a prominent producer and is now preparing to work on the film “Halal” in which he will play a Muslim husband under a lot of pressure resulting from the dominance of custom and traditions over the Islamic Sharia in India. Gulshan is considering the idea of having an Arab actress to play the character of his wife. Nashwa added: “Bollywood in among the oldest and largest cinema production headquarters in the world and carries a lot of hope and pains like our cinema production. Here is where the initiative started to consider the importance of studying the possibility of cooperation and joint production.” She said Gulshan’s visit affirmed the importance of continuing the efforts obtain the maximum benefit from the experiences and the capabilities of the cinema in different countries in the world.
