Lebanese singer Mai Hariry has told Arabstoday that she never spoke about her ex-husband, Lebanese artist Melhem Barakat, saying: “He is the father of my son, Melhem Junior, and I never insulted him in private or in the media.” She suggested “some people are trying to cause discord between us, perhaps to create rich material for the media.” “Statements published about me were not correct, including the one that annoyed Barakat so much. It was a must to clarify these issues in order to limit the confusion,” she explained. Her comments relate to an issue in March 2011 where MBC.net claimed that Barakat was going to sue Mai over comments she made on the entertainment programme Lilnashi (For Publishing). Mai also said she will launch a new song but preferred not to reveal its title. She said it will be filmed under the supervision of a young Arab director whom she has not worked with before.
