Melissa Gorga says Teresa Giudice is doing well in prison.
The 35-year-old reality star updated fans on her 42-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey co-star in an interview with Watch What Happens Live. Gorga is married to Giudice's brother, Joe Gorga, and teared up while speaking of her sister-in-law's incarceration.
"She's doing well," she told host and Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen. "My mother-in-law gives me updates all the time. She's doing really good. I have written to her ... and she's spoken to her brother on the phone."
"It's heavy on his heart," she said of brother-in-law Joe Giudice. "It's a lot. I pass him in the morning and he's driving the girls to school. And I usually pass Teresa every morning ... It's heartwarming to see him. He's manning up, and he's doing what he has to do."
Teresa and Joe Giudice were sentenced to 15 and 41 months in prison, respectively, on multiple charges of fraud in October 2014. The couple will serve their terms separately on account of their four children, with Theresa to be released early in February 2016.
Joe Giudice and his daughters were able to visit Teresa for the first time January 20. Eldest child Gia Giudice tweeted last week, "emails at night from my mom make me so happy," and simply wrote "hate leaving" on Saturday.
