Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government's Official Spokesperson Sameera Ibrahim bin Rajab today urged a common strategy to counter foreign news agencies which sully the image of GCC member states.
She cited in this regard the defamatory campaign which was orchestrated by some foreign news agencies, deliberately spreading news which are tantamount to utter lies as they lack transparency and credibility. She also called upon all Arab news agencies to formulate a strong unified stance to counter the defamatory media campaign and lay them bare.
The minister was speaking as she addressed a plenary discussion session which was held under the theme "News Agencies: Ethics and Competence", on the sidelines of the 42th Annual Meeting of the Arab News Agencies. The two-day conference, scheduled to conclude tomorrow (Nov25), opened today at the University of Bahrain (UoB) Credit Media Center, under the patronage of Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government's Official Spokesperson Sameera Ibrahim bin Rajab and UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Janahi, in the presence of senior officials and UoB students.
