The 14th forum organized by Al-Arabi Magazine under the title "Culture of Tolerance and Peace" reinforces the humanitarian message of Kuwait and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, said Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah.
Al-Arabi was established by His Highness the Amir in the late 1950s, when he was then head of the Department of Press and Publications, to function as a platform for Arab culture, Sheikh Salman told the opening ceremony of the forum on Monday.
He added that the leading Arab magazine delivers an integrated massage, disseminating knowledge and arts as well as the culture of tolerance and peace.
This noble message was crowned by global honoring of His Highness the Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center" by the UN, he said.
The Minister called for supporting the values adopted by the State and His Highness the Amir, besides the culture advocated by Al-Arabi, to create general principles to spread peace.
Sheikh Salman pointed to the "hard times" the Arab region is going through, amid war, terrorism and backwardness, a matter that prompts harder work to restore humanitarianism through love of one's homeland and denouncing discrimination and fanaticism.
He also called for adopting a "cultural charter" that follows Kuwait's message of tolerance and peace.
This forum offers a chance to contemplate the concepts of tolerance and the values of peace, Al-Arabi Editor-in-Chief Adel Al-Abdul Jader, said. He stressed the humanitarian role by Kuwait and His Highness the Amir worldwide, setting a model to be followed by others.
He also referred to Kuwaiti initiatives fostering culture and arts through decades.
Today through this forum, Kuwait encourages local, regional, Arab and international institutions to carry on their work to serve humanity and raise it to a more elevated status.
Al-Abdul Jader expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir for founding the magazine in 1958, and backing it through the years.
The Al-Arabi Chief Editor also thanked His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah who sponsored the event.
He appreciated efforts by Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs to guarantee success for the cultural form.
The forum, 9-11 March, includes cultural discussions and a photo gallery documenting certain occasions for His Highness the Amir.
