Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Walli said 2,615 Sudanese are taking pensions from Egypt in accordance with a mutual pension agreement that was enacted in September of 1972 with the Sudanese side.
Some 919 of those Sudanese are even taking military pensions, she told MENA.
Their pensions, financed from the social insurance subscriptions, are paid through a quarterly bank deposit in euro currency, she added.
In return, the Sudanese side gives pensions to Egyptians who worked in Sudan but now they live in Egypt permanently, she added.
She said the ministry periodically sends a mission to Sudan to go through the names of pensioners and to make sure that they receive their pensions and see whether they face any money transfer problems.
