Supply and Internal Trade Minister Khaled Hanfy announced Friday that 750,000 tons of local wheat have been received from farmers since mid April.
It is expected that 3.7 million tons of wheat will be received, Hanfy said, believing this would help increase strategic reserves of the crop, which will be sufficient till October.
In a statement issued by the ministry on Friday, Hanfy said that measures have also been taken to remove all obstacles that hinder wheat supply and make sure that it is well stored.
Sorting wheat will continue even in weekends and until mid July, it read.
