Minister of Trade and Industry Munir Fakhry Abdel Nour said on Friday that Egypt supports all efforts aimed at achieving economic convergence among African states.
This comes as part of Egypt's endeavors to bring about sustainable development in the continent, the minister said.
He said that efforts are underway to set up a free trad zone that comprises the biggest three entities in Africa, i.e. the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the East African Community (EAC), and the South African Development Community (SADC).
The minister made the statements during his speech before the African Union Conference of Ministers of Trade, now held in Addis Ababa.
