The Industrial Development Authority was assigned with listing all lands available for industrial activities to start immediately measures for their allocation, Trade and Industry Minister Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour said.
The IDA assignment was given by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab during a meeting Sunday with the authority's board, Abdel Nour said.
The meeting stressed the government's keenness to listen to producers' complaints and find urgent solutions, especially those related to smuggling, shortage of gas supplies and foreign currencies at banks and hiking electricity bills, the minister said.
The prime minister has agreed to discuss a draft law on food safety during the coming Cabinet meeting, Abdel Nour said, adding that the bill will achieve a quantum leap in the food industry sector in Egypt as seven ministries and more than 14 supervisory sides are overseeing the sector, causing duplication of work.
