The Iraqi government said Sunday it allocated USD 850 million for the 2015 budget to support and provide shelter for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), urging donor countries to contribute to address Iraq's growing crises.
The announcement was made by Iraqi Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari during a round table of representatives of donor countries and diplomats regarding the suffering of IDPs, who exceeded two million people, a ministry statement said.
Zebari was quoted in the statement as saying said the problems of IDPs were caused by aggression and expansion of the Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
He said the government spent USD 642 million for the IDPs during 2014, while allocating USD 132 million for the ministry of immigration and immigrants.
Zebari urged the donor countries to provide further support for the IDPs, specially in the reconstruction.
