Jordanian Transport Minister Lina Shabib said on Friday that Egypt's New Suez Canal will have a positive impact on Jordan's ports.
Speaking to el Ghad newspaper, Shabib said the new shipping lane will require Jordan to upgrade its ports and expand its transportation network.
She further urged the bodies concerned, atop of which is Aqaba Economic Zone and Aqaba Development Corporation, to take the New Suez Canal as a model to serve the maritime and logistics industry at Aqaba city.
The New Suez Canal was inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of a large number of world leaders.
