Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Khaled Hanafi inked a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Petroleum and Alexandria Company for Petroleum Additives (ACPA) to apply a project that transforms used cooking oil into diesel in all the governorates after the experiment succeeded in Port Said.
Hanafi said the project aims at providing job opportunities, preserving health and environment and producing low-cost diesel.
The project was applied in Port Sad in December, Hanafi said, adding that 10 youth were trained on how to transform the used cooking oil to diesel and five machines were brought for that purpose.
The ministry collected the used oil from the citizens via groceries and supply distributors in return for points that will help them get free goods, Hanafi said.
