Dr. Eng. Abdullah Belhaiv Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works, has said the UAE has become the world's role model in terms of development system that takes into account all social, economic and environment aspects based on the national innovation strategy and in line with the UAE vision 2021, thanks to the support of the UAE leadership.
He said in a statement at the commencement of Green Week sessions, which kicked off under the directive of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.
Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2015), the biggest forum to feature water, energy and environment technologies, is also being held as part of the Green Week sessions.
Belhaiv said the Ministry keeps pace with the state's strategies regarding the economy and green infrastructure through implementation of the best practices in this respect, noting that the Ministry adopted internal sustainable applications for the infrastructure of projects of the Ministry, including water consumption guide, recycling water to be used for agriculture and expanding greenbelts nationwide.
In the field of energy efficiency, he continued, the Ministry has implemented the energy-producing government buildings' projects by exploiting roofs to generate energy through using solar panels to turn the solar energy into electrical energy, noting that the rationalisation of energy consumption contributes effectively towards consolidation of the three sustainability factors: society, environment and the economy.
The Minister said within the framework of the UAE's resolve to become one of the best governments in the world, the Ministry has developed innovative solutions in the areas of sustainability and green buildings to address challenges of energy sources' depletion.
