Egypt's strategic wheat reserves are sufficient till mid February, Supply Minister Khalid Hanafy said Wednesday.
The remarks came after Egypt's General Authority for Supply Commodities signed a contract with Russia to import 175,000 tons of wheat at an average price of 205.37 US dollars per ton.
Egypt imports wheat from many countries such as Russia, US, France, Argentina, Canada, depending on the quality and lowest prices, Hanafy said.
He added that all imported wheat shipments do not enter the country until after being examined to make sure they are fit for human consumption.
