The Tunisian side of the Ras Jedir border crossing was closed on Wednesday in reaction to a Libyan national's threat with a gun to border police officers. The armed person wanted to advance with his car without complying the priority order. He even attacked a police officer and caused a big fright. The Ras Jedir border crossing staff denounced the repetition of incidents of this kind which very often turn to physical and verbal assaults. The officers decided to suspend work in protest against the lack of protection and bad management of the border crossing on the Libyan side. They expressed attachment to their right to good working conditions, protection of their lives and dignity against the inacceptable behaviour they are frequently confronting.
