Sudan's ruling National Congress Party (NCP) on Saturday accused the rebel Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM)/northern sector of committing a massacre at an area in South Kordofan which resulted in killing of seven herdsmen.
"Here is the SPLM/northern again committing the largest human massacre by killing defenceless and innocent herdsmen and farmers in a manner that reflects the arrogance and recklessness of the movement towards the lives of citizens and its continued bloodsheding," said the NCP in a statement.
"Violence and bloodsheding have remained habits of the SPLM/northern sector and a methodology reflecting its terrorist behavior which aims at destabilizing the country's security and stability," it added.
It urged the international community to regard the SPLM/northern sector as a terrorist movement.
The NCP further urged the African Union, regional and international organizations and the international community to condemn the continued crimes committed by the SPLM/northern sector and legally pursue the perpetrators of human massacres against innocent civilians.
On Friday, seven cattle herdsmen were killed and another injured near Al-Hujairat area, some 30 km west of Kadugli, capital of South Kordofan State.
Also Friday, the SPLM/northern sector condemned the incident and denied any involvement with it, saying that there was no presence for its forces at Al-Hujairat area.
The SPLM/northern sector is fighting Khartoum government at South Kordofan and Blue Nile areas.
