Luis Suarez London - Arabstoday Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez is seeking to put a nightmare six months behind him and commit his future to Liverpool. Speaking to El Pais,a daily newspaper in his home country, the controversial striker has suggested that he will turn on his back on a lucrative move to Paris St Germain and remain on Merseyside – despite the vilification he received over the October incident in which the Football Association judged him to have racially abused Manchester United captain Patrice Evra. “I have a contract until 2016 and they already want to renew it for me,” he told the paper. “The coach still believes in me and that’s very important, especially after having been out for eight matches.” The 25-year-old has been one of the few Kenny Dalglish recruits to make a mark at Anfield since his transfer in January, 2011, and has contributed 11 goals in his 29 appearances this season. His partnership with local hero Steven Gerrard has helped propel Liverpool to a rich seam of form in March, beginning with a Carling Cup success at Wembley and culminating yesterday in an FA Cup quarter-final victory over Stoke – a game in which he opened the scoring with a fine solo effort. “I would like to stay,” he insisted. “Despite everything that happened, I\'m happy here, on and off the pitch.” Suarez has been roundly criticised for both his actions at Anfield last October and his subsequent defence, which was both disingenuous and contradictory. He compounded the situation with his ill-judged decision not to shake Evra\'s hand when the teams met again in February. But Suarez is adamant he is innocent of any wrongdoing. “There was no concrete proof,” he says. “It was simply my word against that of the other player and they believed him. That hurt me a lot. “I’ve already played in other countries, a lot of people know me and I’ve shown who I am. I don\'t think I deserve to have been treated like that.”
